Gorontalo Goes to National Geopark

Mr. Guy Martini, a frenchman accompanied by his assistan Mrs. Daniella and the team of Bappenas arrived in Gorontalo on Friday (July 7, 2023) is about to do Advisory Mission, visiting and assess some sites whether the status of Aspiring Geopark Gorontalo deserves to be designated as a National Geopark under the UNESCO”s surveillance.  Some of Geosite, historical sites and cultural site will be reviewed to become input material for the provincial government and hopefully becoming a national and world concern for conservation due to society prosperity.
” I have an invitation from Bappenas in order to visit Gorontalo for Aspiring Gorontalo Geopark, to analyze whether Gorontalo is deserved to be nominated as a Geopark Global,” Mr.G expressed.

In addition, Mr. Guy Martini and his team leaving for  fortress of Otanaha, one of historical site of the Portuguese heritage around the XV century. On that occasion there were also team of Geopark Gorontalo and Cultural Preservation Center of Gorontalo accompanying Mr. G. Martini and they were explaining about the historical site of Otanaha Fortress and it becomes the masterpiece site due to the age in 1.500 which is architectural design and materials are also quite good

Martini and the team will be in Gorontalo until July 13, 2023. The itenerary he will also visit whale sharks, the Olele marine park, Limestone in East Biluhu ,The old city in Gorontalo City will also be explored including the Oluhuta and Lombongo geosites as well as granodiorite and red limestone in Boalemo Regency. Red limestone is one of the important geological sites including the Pentadio Resort Hot Spring and the Limboto Lake area in Gorontalo Regency.
