Sugar Price Hikes, Provincial Gov’t Strives to Control

Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – The Provincial Secretary, Sofian Ibrahim after attending the virtual meeting expressed that the provincial gov’t has begun anticipating sugar price hikes and its stock (10/3/2025).

The average sugar price in the first week of March 2025 has exceeded IDR 18,365/kg, which is upper than the reference selling price (HAP) set at IDR 17,500/kg. In Gorontalo Province, the sugar price has already reached to IDR 20,000/kg.

Sofian stated that his side will coordinate with Bulog and distributors to ensure supply availability, price stability, and to prevent hoarding.
Sofian stated that Vice Gov. Idah and her team visited traditional market yesterday and monitor prices there.

Sofian also added that the Price Development Index (IPH) for the first week of March 2025 in Gorontalo Province stands at 3.85%. The main contributors to the index increase include chili, curly chili, and red onion.
