Gorontalo City, Kominfotik-  Thousands of runners from Gorontalo and other regions participated on UNG Half Marathon, On this occasion, Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendikti Saintek), Brian Yuliarto participated the event along with Governor Gusnar Ismail and Vice Gov. Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie in front of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Campus 1, State University of Gorontalo (UNG), on sunday morning (May 4, 2025).

Governor Gusnar expressed his hope that the event would spark public interest in sports among Gorontalo people. Besides attracting large crowds, he noted that the event also may boosting the local economy.

The UNG Half Marathon featured three race categories such as 5K race was joined by 1,200 runners, 10K by 600 participants, and 21K by 300 runners. In addition, 2,700 non-registered participants from UNG college students also took part in this event.

Each race category followed a different route. The 5K route started from Campus 1 UNG, went past the Dulohupa traditional house, then through Campus 2 UNG, the Baiturrahim Grand Mosque, and ended back at Campus 1. The 10K route led runners to the four-way intersection near SMP 6 Gorontalo City, continued along Kalimantan Street, turned into Andalas street, passed the Nasdem Party’s regional office, and finished at Campus 1.

For the 21K route, participants ran through the Bone Bolango Center Point, circled Campus 4 UNG, continued to the four-way intersection near Muhammadiyah Islamic Senior High School (MA), headed toward the intersection at KH. Adam Zakaria Street, and concluded the race back at Campus 1 UNG.

Accompanying Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology and UNG Rector Eduart Wolok, there was the previous acting governor 2024–2025 period, Rudy Salahuddin participated in the 10K and 20 rectors from various universities across Indonesia participating this event also.
