After the opening of the subsidized cheap market event in Suwawa District, Bone Bolango Regency, on tuesday, Vice Gov. Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie, urged the public to reduce plastic waste and she also encouraged people to bring their own bags when shopping. In the past, our parents used to bring baskets or bags from home when they went to the market. (March 11, 2025).

According to Idah, our environment is not in good condition. She encouraged all to reduce plastic waste and minimize plastic use. Based on the Provincial Environmental and Forestry Office’s data, in 2024 waste production reached nearly 4,000 tons per day. This amount comes from Gorontalo city, Gorontalo Regency, and Bone Bolango Regency.

Vice Gov. Idah also added that bringing our personal shopping bags may reflects our environment awareness, as it helps reduce plastic waste, getting the safety and hygiene of purchased goods these effort are the smart ways to reduce and combat the use of plastic.
