Agricultural Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman released 50 metric tons of corn export to Phillipines.

With a traditional ceremony celebrate an important milestone and to start the event by Letjen TNI (Purn) Sjafrie Sjamaoeddin (Assistant of Defence Minister).

On that occasion there was also Acting Gorontalo Governor, Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin, he expressed that corn export is an alternative option to stabilize domestic corn prices which continue to decline due to the massive harvest. Rudy revealed, Gorontalo’s corn planting area is 356 thousand hectares so that it can be predicted by the end of 2024 corn production can reach 1.5 million.

With this condition, Gorontalo will be ready to face the national corn demand. Rudy also added that all needs support and assistance from the Minister so that Gorontalo farmers continue to produce.

“Several months ago Gorontalo imported corn from Phillipines about 250 metric tons but today we are striking back with 50.000 tons distributed by three companies in Gorontalo,” minister urged. He also ensured that Gorontalo’s corn production above 2 million tons for the next year.
