Gorontalo City, Kominfotik- Committed to promote and support Gorontalo artisan specially in boosting Karawo, a traditional embroidery marketing, the acting Gorontalo Governor Ismail Pakaya encouraged all his ranks and also hoteliers throughout the province due to taking several important steps to boost Karawo embroidery sector. Acting Governor also added that he committed to provide and support that will significantly contribute to the growth of this sector referring to the circular letter of Gorontalo governor number 556/DISPAR/1241/XI/2023 dated November 16th 2023.

Firstly, suggested to the hoteliers to display and showing a promotional video greetings from the Gorontalo Government to the guest. Secondly, must be displaying materials or Karawo fabric in pairs in public and lobby area. Third, periodically change the display of in  three month period. Fourth, serve a welcome cake in the form of karawo flower cake or gula gula (candy) soba, to guests who are given along with the hotel room key.

Fifth, For breakfast, traditional dishes must be served at all hotels/villas such as milu siram, ilabulo or other local menus. Sixth,  catalog or brochures of the Gorontalo Crafts Council (Dekranasda) in each hotels/villa rooms. Seventh, MSME product displays on every events held. Eight, placing bed runners with karawo embroidery.

Governor Ismail also asked all ASN and PTT in the provincial administration to wear karawo clothes, upiya karanji and karawo veil for women on thursdays.

All ASNs are also encouraged to purchase at the Dekranasda Art Gallery. Suggestion for dancers, singers, emcees and participants in each OPD’s activity, are encouraged to use karawo and upiya karanji clothes. We all have responsibility to invite guests to do some shopping at the Dekranasda Art Gallery on Tinaloga Street, Tilongkabila sub district, Bone Bolango regency.
