In Indonesia, WCD 2023 will be celebrated for this week 21-25 September  in Gorontalo province .The committee kept on doing effort to do preparednesdue to this WCD by meetings among regions at Regent of Gorontalo’s residence. Friday (15/9/2023).

Below are several activities have been prepared including International Coconut Conference, Business Meeting as well as the Genetic Coconut Bank Declaration between coconut producing countries. There is also an exhibition of coconut derivative products and technology, a coconut culinary exhibition, a coconut cultural arts performance and a coconut climbing competition. Including coconut training, camps and the declaration of a world coconut park.

Regent of Gorontalo Nelson Pomalingo encouraged all stakeholders to support this event series.  According to him, this event not only brings the good name of Gorontalo Regency as the host but also the name of Indonesia as a whole.

Nelson also added that this event will be  attended by local farmers, entrepreneurs and governments who are members of the International Coconut Community (ICC). Gorontalo. which is known as one of the coconut producing areas, needs to interact with other countries for economic development and do transfer  knowledge and technology related to coconut.

Meeting was concerned on the security of delegates from abroad. The police hope that all delegates can properly record where they existence during the event. From this meeting it is known that four VVIP guest delegations from the ICC will attend. Another 18 are foreign delegates. Some participants are still waiting for the conference visa to be issued. Dozens of heads of coconut producing regions have also confirmed their attendance
