Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail urged that the commemoration of Islamic holidays at the provincial level be further enhanced. He conveyed this message while attending the Mawlid of Prophet Muhammad SAW held at Djabbal Muhsinin Mosque, within the governor’s complex, Thursday (September 11, 2025).

Gusnar emphasized the importance of celebrating Islamic holidays as a reflection of love for the Prophet and for religious values. He also highlighted that such celebrations provide spiritual encouragement in worship and, more specifically, in carrying out daily duties as public servants.

Furthermore, Gusnar noted that religious celebrations are a responsive form of engagement with the transformations taking place in society. He pointed out that many religious assemblies are growing in Gorontalo today.

The commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s Mawlid at the provincial level was held modestly with collective prayers and dhikr. The event also featured a sermon on the wisdom of the Prophet’s birth, delivered by Sofyan Kau from IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo.
