Gorontalo Regency, Kominfotik – Vice Governor of Gorontalo Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie inspected three locations designated as visit destinations for the participants of the XVII National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS) in Gorontalo Regency on Tuesday (2/6/2026). The inspection was carried out to ensure the readiness of the sites and to evaluate various aspects that need improvement, ensuring that Gorontalo’s leading agricultural and fishery potentials can be optimally showcased to PENAS participants from all over Indonesia.
During the visit, Vice Governor Idah was accompanied by officials from the Food Security Agency and the Department of Tourism, Youth, and Sports (Parekrafpora) of Gorontalo Province. The three inspected locations include:
The Lamuta Farmers Group, focusing on organic farming in Hutanohu Village, West Limboto District.
A peanut farmers group partnering with PT Garuda Food in Tilihuwa Sub-district, Limboto District.
A biofloc-system tilapia aquaculture fishermen group in Lupoyo Village, Limboto District.
At the first location, the Vice Governor appreciated the development of organic farming, which she deemed capable of serving as an example of eco-friendly agriculture while supporting regional food security. She also encouraged the farmers to present their innovations and products attractively during the PENAS participants’ visit.
The visit then continued to the peanut cultivation center in Tilihuwa. According to Idah, the partnership between the farmers and PT Garuda Food serves as proof that local agricultural products possess competitive value and promising market opportunities. However, she reminded them that the showcased items should not only consist of modern processed products but should also display local peanuts in their original form as part of the region’s food heritage.

Idah assessed the venture as a concrete example of utilizing science and technology in developing the fishery sector, while simultaneously opening up economic opportunities for the community.
The Vice Governor also provided several inputs to enhance the comfort and quality of the PENAS participants’ visit locations. These included adding supporting facilities, showcasing exhibitions of products and innovations from both farmers and fishermen, and strengthening the educational aspects at each visited site. According to her, site readiness is measured not only by physical aspects but also by the ability to present the region’s flagship potential in an attractive and informative manner.
