Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – In preparation for the XVII National Farmer-Fisherman Week (PENAS) 2026, the Provincial Gov’t, through the Office of Tourism, Creative Economy, Youth, and Sports (Parekrafpora), keep on going to strengthen coordination with district and city governments. This effort is being carried out through audience sessions coupled with direct site visits to various tourist destinations.
Consultations were held with the governments of Gorontalo Regency and Bone Bolango Regency as a strategic step to synchronize regional tourism development programs. This alignment is crucial, as PENAS participants are scheduled to take part in widya wisata (educational tours) across Gorontalo.
To ensure readiness, a team conducted direct inspections of the destinations designated for these tours. The findings indicate that while some locations are in excellent condition—with good accessibility and strong appeal—others still require improvements to facilities and environmental management. Most of the remaining work involves simple steps such as cleaning and tidying up areas to make them more comfortable and presentable for visitors.
The Head of the Gorontalo Tourism, Creative Economy, Youth, and Sports Office, Sultan Kalupe, emphasized that destination readiness is a top priority given the inclusion of the educational tours in the PENAS 2026 agenda.
“We want to ensure that the destinations visited by participants are truly ready. Some are already very good, while others just need cleaning and tidying. This is what we are pushing for alongside the regency and city governments,” Sultan Kalupe stated on Saturday (4/4/2026).
He added that synergy between the provincial and local governments is vital for these destinations to perform optimally. Through these steps, it is hoped that the PENAS 2026 tours will provide the best experience for participants while simultaneously boosting regional tourism promotion.
