Jakarta City, Kominfotik – Governor Gusnar Ismail discussed the organization of the Gorontalo Half Marathon (GHM) with the Secretary of the Ministry/Main Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, Muhammad Rudy Salahuddin. The meeting took place on the 3rd floor of the Ismail Saleh Building, Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, on Saturday (March 7, 2026).
Gusnar presented the plans for this year’s GHM execution. The Gorontalo Provincial Gov’t intends for the GHM to no longer be funded by the local government budget, but rather through the involvement of the private sector.
In response, Rudy Salahuddin noted that the GHM has great potential to become a national-scale sporting agenda in Gorontalo Province. He expressed his readiness to assist in facilitating sponsorship support from private entities.
Furthermore, he suggested that the local government prepare various tourism support activities scheduled close to the GHM event. In doing so, the event would not only serve as a sporting competition but also act as a catalyst for tourism promotion and regional economic movement.
In addition to discussing the GHM, Gusnar reported that the Gorontalo Provincial Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ID FOOD in Jakarta on March 5, 2026. This collaboration is a follow-up to the groundbreaking of the chicken industrial zone in North Gorontalo Regency, which is part of the integrated chicken industry downstreaming program in Gorontalo Province.
The meeting also touched upon further cooperation opportunities that could be facilitated by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM. These include the development of Sister City programs, MSME promotion, and educational study support for Gorontalo students heading to Morocco.
Governor Gusnar was accompanied by the Provincial Secretary, Sofian Ibrahim, as well as the Head of the Youth and Sports Office and his staff. The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere, as Rudy Salahuddin previously served as the Acting Governor of Gorontalo.
