Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail has urged that the government’s ceremonial budget allocation within the 2027 Regional Budget (APBD) be reduced and redirected toward community interests. He conveyed this statement while responding to the views of the Gorontalo Provincial DPRD factions during a plenary meeting on Monday (9/14/2026).
Gusnar stated that ceremonial activities do not all need to be funded by the government. According to him, support from the private sector can be optimized further, with the government acting as a facilitator and catalyst.
He cited the Gorontalo Half Marathon as an example of an event that can rely on sponsorship support. A similar model, Gusnar noted, can be applied to other activities, including regional festivals and promotional agendas.
Gusnar emphasized that reducing ceremonial spending is part of an effort to optimize the APBD so that its benefits are felt more directly by the public. He also proposed cutting the budget for the governor’s official uniforms from approximately Rp226 million to Rp100 million.
In addition, Gusnar stated that the government is still awaiting the calculation of Revenue-Sharing Funds (DBH) for further discussion with the DPRD. He also plans to gather all heads of Regional Work Units (OPD) along with the Provincial Regional Secretary (Sekdaprov) to align perceptions and prepare responses to the various factional views.
