Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – Encouraging news has arrived from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), which released economic data for the first quarter of 2026. The economic growth of Gorontalo Province has soared to 7.68 percent. This achievement stands as the best performance in the last five years, where growth typically fluctuated between 4-5 percent.
Governor Gusnar Ismail, welcomed and expressed gratitude for this milestone. He believes the province is on the right track to realizing the vision of an “Advanced and Prosperous Gorontalo.”
“Alhamdulillah, the Official Statistical News has been released, placing Gorontalo’s economic growth for Q1 2026 at 7.68 percent. This result is something to be grateful for and is heartening for all of us,” Gusnar said during an interview on Thursday (May 7, 2026).
Statistical data shows that the main contributors to Gorontalo’s economy are agriculture, trade, and construction, with the largest source of growth coming from exports.
Almost all business sectors reported positive growth, particularly in mining and quarrying, manufacturing, as well as transportation and warehousing.
Governor Gusnar is optimistic that Gorontalo’s economic growth will continue to rise from the second to the fourth quarters. Beyond the expanding mining sector, the food commodity ecosystem supported by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is also driving the local economy.
Other contributing factors include the “Merah Putih” Village and Urban Forest Cooperatives program, along with various other central and regional initiatives.
The wheels of the economy are expected to spin even faster with the upcoming 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS), scheduled for June 20-25. Approximately 30,000 farmers, fishermen, business actors, and government officials from across the country are expected to gather in Gorontalo for the event.
