25 MBG Kitchens Closed; Vice Governor to Convene SPPG Heads and Nutritionists

Gorontalo Regency, Kominfotik – The Vice Governor of Gorontalo, Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie, revealed that as of today, 25 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Gorontalo Province have been temporarily closed by the National Nutrition Agency. The closures were due to the failure to meet several key requirements, including non-standard Wastewater Treatment Plants (IPAL) and the lack of or failure to obtain a Sanitary Hygiene Eligibility Certificate (SLHS).

The Vice Governor stated this during surprise inspections (sidak) at several SPPGs across the regency/city on Wednesday (4/8/2026). She emphasized that these inspections are part of efforts to ensure all Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program kitchens operate according to regulations.

As a follow-up, in her capacity as Chair of the Gorontalo Province MBG Task Force, Idah proposed a joint meeting between foundation leaders, SPPG heads, and nutritionists. The meeting aims to provide guidance and strengthen capacity in the implementation of operational standards in the field.

This step is considered crucial, as the impact of the temporary SPPG closures extends beyond service aspects; it also affects investments made and local economic activity, including the workforce and suppliers of food ingredients such as fish, vegetables, and other commodities.

It is reported that the number of closed SPPGs was previously 16 units, but it has increased by nine more, bringing the total to 25 SPPGs spread across the entire Gorontalo Province.

The Vice Governor’s inspections at these four SPPGs were accompanied by the MBG Task Force team, which includes the Head of the Gorontalo Provincial Health Office and his staff, as well as the Head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) for the Gorontalo region.
