
The Vice Governor of Gorontalo, Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie, accompanied by Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (Commission XII) Rusli Habibie, inspected the progress of the Bulango Ulu Reservoir National Strategic Project (PSN) in Bulango Ulu District, Bone Bolango Regency, on Monday (5/1/2026).
The Vice Governor expressed optimism that the construction of the Bulango Ulu Reservoir will be completed this year and deliver a significant impact on the region. Beyond its function as irrigation infrastructure, the reservoir is expected to be developed into a premier, integrated tourism destination.
According to her, managing the Bulango Ulu area requires close collaboration between the Gorontalo Provincial Government and the Bone Bolango Regency Government. This synergy is believed to be capable of turning the reservoir into a regional asset that drives Local Original Revenue (PAD) and creates economic opportunities for MSMEs in the surrounding area.

Ali Rahmat, Head of the Sulawesi II River Basin Center (BWS) Gorontalo, provided the following technical updates:
Current Progress: The project has reached 91.5% completion.
Completion Target: Fully optimized by 2026.
Impounding (Initial Filling): Targeted to begin in March 2026.
Capacity Goal: By utilizing two rainy seasons, water capacity is estimated to reach at least 75%.
