Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – Gorontalo Deputy Governor Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie invited the younger generation to love and be proud to use local languages in their daily lives. Idah conveyed the appeal while closing the 2025 Gorontalo Province-Level Mother Tongue Seedlings Festival (Tunas Festival Bahasa Ibu) held at Aston Hotel on Monday (3/11/2025).
According to Idah, local languages are an identity and source of pride that must be preserved so as not to disappear amid the currents of modernization and globalization. She emphasized the importance of using local languages in various settings, including at home, school, and on social media.
The festival, which lasted for two days, was attended by students from various levels, ranging from elementary school (SD) to junior high school (SMP). Participants not only showcased their fluency in the Gorontalo language but also introduced the diversity of other local languages such as Suwawa and Atinggola.
In addition to highlighting the importance of preserving local languages, Idah also advised parents to continue supporting and guiding their children in developing their potential.
