
Gorontalo Regency, Kominfotik – The Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhaimin Iskandar, conducted a working visit to Gorontalo Province on Wednesday (October 8, 2025). His arrival in the “Veranda of Mecca” was warmly received with the Mopotilolo traditional ceremony, which was held at the Old Terminal of Djalaluddin Tantu Airport.
The Coordinating Minister’s delegation arrived via Garuda Indonesia aircraft around 7:30 AM WITA and was immediately welcomed by Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail. Also present at the welcoming were the Gorontalo Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) Inspector General Eko Wahyu Prasetyo, the Head of the Regional Intelligence Agency (Kabinda) Khairul Amir, and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and heads of Regional Government Work Units (OPD) within the Gorontalo Provincial Government.
Mopotilolo is a distinctive Gorontalo traditional ceremony performed to welcome guests of honor or high-ranking state officials visiting Gorontalo for the first time. The procession was led by the traditional leaders of U Duluwo Limo Lo Pohalaa, the customary council of the five traditional Gorontalo regions.
The Coordinating Minister, affectionately known as Cak Imin, was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Veronica Tan, who had also previously been welcomed with the traditional custom during an earlier visit.
This working visit is scheduled for the inauguration of the Garuda School at MAN Insan Cendekia Gorontalo, Boarding School before the delegation continues their agenda and returns back to Jakarta.
