Vice Gov. Idah Asks Karawo Pursue Global Market Through 2025 KKI

Jakarta City, Kominfotik –  Vice Gov. Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie encouraged Gorontalo’s signature Karawo products to become more widely recognized and entering international market. She conveyed this during her visit to the Gorontalo booth, which participated in this event. exhibition at Hall B of the JIExpo Convention Center (JICC) in Jakarta, Saturday (9/8/2025).

On this occasion, Idah directly observed the works of Karawo artisans fostered by Bank Indonesia’s Gorontalo representative office, including designers Tethuna, Tiar, and GKarawo. According to Idah, Karawo designs have seen significant improvements in recent years better than in the past, Karawo was typically worn by office employees or old people, but now professionals from all walks of life can wear it proudly. The designs, patterns, quality, and combination of threads and fabrics are now in line with consumer preferences.

 

Idah stated she also added that one of the Karawo business owners regarding creating product labels to make them more attractive and high-end. Furthermore, She appreciated the efforts of artisans who combined Karawo with eco-printing and batik techniques, resulting in unique creations with high artistic value.

Lastly, Vice Gov. Idah hoped that Karawo will become increasingly recognized worldwide and Gorontalo always has the opportunity to take part in other events which serve as a strategic platform to promote our creations.

For information, KKI is such an annual program of Bank Indonesia since 2016, serving as a strategic platform to promote regional flagship products from across Indonesia, including Gorontalo Province. This year, KKI carries the theme “Synergy and Innovation, the Key to Strengthening the Role of MSMEs as the Driving Force of a Sustainable Economy. The event runs for four days from August 7–10, 2025.
