Bone Bolango Regency, Kominfotik – The Provincial Secretary, Sofian Ibrahim, chaired a preparednesa meeting for the series of events commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the provincial level which was held at the Hall of the Marine and Fisheries Office of Gorontalo Province on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).
In his statement after the meeting, Provincial Secretary Sofian explained that the aim of the meeting was to evaluate the readiness of each division, particularly those responsible for the main ceremony, sacred reflection, and the flag-raising troop (Paskibraka). He stated that all committees had prepared their work plans optimally to ensure the smooth execution of the main Independence Day events, including a full rehearsal scheduled for August 11.
“Last year, only a limited number of people were invited to attend. Hopefully, this year we can invite more members of the public to witness the main ceremonies in the morning and afternoon,” said Sofian.
He also revealed that this year, more members of the public will be invited to attend the main ceremony compared to previous years. Outstanding individuals in sports, the arts, and other fields will also be invited as a form of appreciation and to make the national celebration more inclusive.
Another new aspect that distinguishes this year’s celebration is the direct presence of Governor Gusnar Ismail and the Vice Governor, who will serve as ceremony supervisors, replacing interim officials as had been the case over the past three years. Additionally, various supporting events such as competitions, art and cultural performances, and office decoration activities have been taking place since early August and will continue up to the main celebration on August 17.
Meanwhile, Governor Gusnar, in his directive, emphasized the importance of this year’s ceremony as it will be the first held during his administration. He stressed that the entire series of events, especially the flag-raising and lowering ceremonies, must be carried out in a grand and well-organized manner, and should be effectively communicated to the public.
He also explained that starting this year, the term “moment of the proclamation” will no longer be used. Instead, it will be referred to as a “flag ceremony,” allowing greater flexibility in scheduling, so it no longer has to be conducted exactly at 10:00 AM.
“Everything must be executed properly. This is an important moment awaited by the people. We must not let public enthusiasm go unmatched by our readiness,” Governor Gusnar firmly stated.
