
Gorontalo City, Kominfotik — Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was invited by Gov.Gusnar to actively participate in efforts to save Lake Limboto, Monday. (16/6/2025).
A team from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met with Governor Gusnar to discuss Limboto lake. Gov. Gusnar invited Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) due to in efforts to save Lake Limboto.
On this occasion, Governor Gusnar highlighted the lake condition due to sedimentation and environmental degradation.
According to Governor, both central and local gov’t must be focus on the lake. For more 20 years, no progress on it. Gov. expressed that JICA being a strategic partner to solve this.
He also conveyed that Lake Limboto need to be revitalized like in Japan, Lake Biwa with water hyacinths but now being a major source of clean water for Kyoto..
Gusnar also added that there are three main areas: addressing sedimentation, developing the lake for tourism sute and conservation also sustainably advancing the freshwater fisheries sector.
Lastly, Head of the JICA for Indonesia representative Office, Takeda Sachiko, welcomed the Provincial Gov’t commitment. Further coordinating with relevant parties to develop a comprehensive lake restoration and management strategy is what JICA focus on.
