Gorontalo City, Kominfotik – Provincial Secretary Sofian Ibrahim, during a coordination meeting stated that Provincial Gov’t soon will optimize the function of Tenda Port, which is located in Hulonthalangi sub district, Gorontalo city (April 11, 2025).
Head of the Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office, Sila Botutihe, delivered in his presentation that the optimization of Tenda Port must be expedited, as its current condition no longer supposed to be. Tenda Port, in essence a fishing port, supports the management and utilization of fishery resources and the environment, starting from pre-production to production stages, bu in reality, it has become disorganized and now occupied by a traditional market. This situation no longer proper for the function of a fishing port, which is meant to serve as a base area for fish landing operations.
According to Sila, to optimize Tenda Port was also driven by the City Gov’t to the Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office, noting that the traditional market activities in this area are no longer in line with the city’s spatial planning regulations as stipulated by the Mayor’s decree. Sila conveyed that several steps have already been taken, including persuasive approach to the vendors at Tenda Port in march. The goal is to relocate vegetable, spice, and retail fish vendors to the Sentral market on April, but gov’t should ensure the adequate facilities prepared for these vendors so that their livelihoods are not disrupted and they will occupy permanent stalls at Sentral market. She also added, in accordance with the rule the relocation period will run from April 17 to April 30, 2025
